GLI, those three letters might not mean a lot, but the truth is it makes all the difference in the world for the Volkswagen Jetta. The Jetta GLI isn't just a sportier version of our beloved German sedan, it is a whole different car, or it feels like it, at least. It is one of the few cars I truly enjoyed driving in the last few years, which is why you should consider it.
The 2023 Volkswagen Jetta is an elegant and refined compact sedan, and designers did an excellent job of enhancing performance on the style level with the GLI version without compromising its original styling. I don't think you will look at the German sports sedan in 30 years the same way you look at a 1993 Honda Civic today. The Jetta GLI is more like a tailor-suited Audi from the 90s. The black 18-inch wheels are gorgeous, and all the red accents are precisely like the cherry on the top of the cake; It doesn't overpower the design, but it's there to remind us that the German sedan design is complete.
The interior of the 2023 Volkswagen Jetta GLI is just as perfect as the exterior. Designers added a few details here and there again to make the car a bit more special. However, the Jetta doesn't need anything more to make you feel special. From the digital cockpit to the incredible built quality, the German sedan is amazing in every possible way.
When numbers make things even better!
The 2023 Volkswagen Jetta is an amazing car just by the way it looks, and to be honest, I'd still choose it over several vehicles even if it was slow and ridiculously expensive, but guess what? It isn't. let's start with the price since this is a deal breaker for most buyers. Days when you could buy a fun car for under $30,000, are long gone, but the 2023 Jetta GLI isn't still too far from this time, with a starting price of $35,532. I am sure you will trust me when I say it is a lot of cars for the price. What makes it even more interesting is the fact there are not too many options which means it doesn't get ridiculously expensive like many cars like this would by the time you get over the configuration process.
Finally, let's talk about the 2023 Volkswagen Jetta GLIs heart. The German sports sedan is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder. This is a pretty standard engine, and although it doesn't make a ton of power, it sure makes enough of it for the Jetta GLI to be a lot of fun to drive. Well, I'll tell you, it sure feels like there is a lot more than 228 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque under the hood. However, the best part about the Jetta GLI is the fact it is available with either a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed DCT.
